My recent trip to Milan was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to an unforgettable visit to Yugen Studio, probably the largest rope dojo in Europe. I was invited by Kirigami and Marta to photoshoot for the Yugen Studio Magazine, and their warm hospitality made the experience truly special.
From the moment we arrived, Yugen Studio left me in awe. The space is vast, meticulously designed, and exudes an atmosphere of both reverence and creativity—perfect for the art of shibari and kinbaku. The high ceilings, ample rigging points, and thoughtfully curated environment made it clear why this studio is a cornerstone of the European rope community.
The photoshoot itself was a highlight. Working with the team at Yugen was a joy—their professionalism and passion for rope artistry shone through in every moment. The energy was invigorating, blending creativity with the intricate beauty of ropes. The results were stunning, capturing the essence of the ties and the emotions woven into them with a kinky twist.
What made the visit even more memorable was a private session with my partner in the studio. Having the entire space to ourselves felt like a rare and special gift. The quiet intimacy of tying in such a grand setting allowed us to connect deeply, with the ropes and the moment holding us in perfect balance. It’s a memory I’ll cherish for a long time.

Beyond the studio, Kirigami and Marta opened their home to us, hosting delightful dinners filled with meaningful conversations. Their warmth and generosity made us feel like part of their community. Milan itself offered a pleasant backdrop—vibrant and full of life, with food that never disappointed. The city’s charm, while understated, paired well with the richness of our time at Yugen.
I’m filled with gratitude for Kirigami and Marta for inviting us into their world and sharing their incredible studio. This visit was a beautiful chapter in my rope journey, and I’m already looking forward to future collaborations. Yugen Studio is a interesting visit for anyone passionate about shibari and kinbaku.
