What a magical time we had with Kasumi Hourai in Helsinki! Hosting her with Shibari Ropeplay was an experience filled with beauty, connection, and inspiration. From the workshop to the performance at our rope party, every moment felt like a gift, and I’m still reflecting on how special it all was.
The workshop was a deep dive into Kasumi’s elegant approach to shibari. Her teaching was both precise and heartfelt, guiding participants through ties that combined classical Japanese aesthetics and culture, flower arrangements and practical erotic bondage. The room was alive with curiosity, and Kasumi’s calm, encouraging presence made everyone feel empowered to explore. I learned so much just watching her interact with the group, her passion for the art shining through in every knot.

The rope party performance was a highlight I’ll never forget. Kasumi’s model was someone incredibly dear to me, which made the experience even more meaningful. Watching them perform together was like witnessing a story unfold—each tie, each movement, was infused with emotion and trust. The audience was spellbound, and I could feel the weight of the moment — having performed myself just before her on stage and assisted in preparing all the performances as the event’s representative. There was something truly special about working alongside her, setting up the space where her art would come to life. It felt like we were co-creating a sacred moment.
Kasumi also visited my studio for private sessions, and I had the privilege of photographing some of her work. Afterward, we sat down for a long, heartfelt discussion about shibari and some cultural aspects. Her kindness and gracefulness made me feel so honored to have her in my space. The photos we took captured the beauty of her ropes and the connection she fostered, and they’re now cherished memories.

Thank you, Kasumi, for bringing your artistry and spirit to Helsinki. This experience was a milestone for Shibari Ropeplay, and I’m so grateful for the moments we shared.
