Shibari & Kinbaku

Shibari and kinbaku, often considered synonymous in the West, are Japanese forms of rope bondage deeply tied to eroticism, power dynamics, and an intimate connection between the rigger and the person being tied. It is said that these practices have their roots in the hojojutsu techniques of Japan’s Edo period and in BDSM culture, but today, rope bondage can also be an aesthetic and artistic form of expression.
